Joanna Couch, M.Ed.
Joanna joined UCF-CARD in October 2015. She received her undergraduate degree in Special Education: Varying Exceptionalities and her Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. Joanna currently holds a Florida Professional Teaching Certification for Elementary Education K-6, Middle Grades 5-9, Exceptional Student Education K-12, and Educational Leadership, as well as endorsements in Autism Spectrum Disorders and English for Speakers of Other Languages. Joanna was an ESE teacher for six years. During this time, she taught students with autism in ASD classroom settings. She later served as a language arts and social studies VE teacher for students in 6th-8th grades. Joanna has worked as an ESE team leader, Professional Learning Community Leader, School Advisory Council Chair and Secretary, Beginning Teacher Mentor, and Functional Behavior Assessment/Behavior Intervention Team Leader. She later served as an assistant principal intern. Joanna has conducted district and school-based trainings to help teachers and para-professionals implement best-practices for students with autism. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, jogging, and spending time with her family.
